For every node on the cluster, its hostname must be bound to an IP address that matches an address on one of its network interface cards (NIC). Your MATLAB client and your other cluster nodes must be able to contact it using this address.
The two nodes will already have SQL Server installed. We will add a file share witness into the cluster (because an even number of quorum votes is bad). The cluster will be simple, so we will skip things like heartbeat networks and other more advanced configurations. Build an availability group across both nodes of the cluster. I don't plan to make any decisions based on the data - I trust the failover to do its thing - but I would like to include the information in an event log so I can tell which node in the cluster was active when the event occurred, or help determine if exceptions come up as a result of a failover.

I'm working on a Powershell script to update service accounts on named SQL instances in a failover cluster. I'm trying to use the SMO and WMI to update this so that I can update the service account on the active node and have it populated to the other passive nodes (as would happen if I updated manually in the configuration tools).
The second script is an inspiration based on a recent task that I had to do in my consulting exercise. One of my client was having a 6 node AlwaysOn setup and was asking me which of the nodes are ready for doing a failover. I thought this was a simple yet powerful question. I had a PowerShell handy for this specific use case as shown below. I run measurements on a cluster consisting of 32 nodes/machines. I do not require all nodes, only 4, for example. The problem is most of the time, the nodes are busy with other people running their heavy job on them. So, to find idle nodes to get good results, I run the top command on each machine starting from the first until I find 4 free ones. The Failover Cluster cmdlets can be used to get information about Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV). The Get-ClusterSharedVolume cmdlet when run on a cluster node, gives us the information about all the CSVs.
